What Happens After You Enroll

01

Register Online

Complete registration through our Jackrabbit portal. Select your program, provide your child's information, and confirm your spot. You'll receive an email confirmation immediately.

02

Receive Your Schedule

You'll be contacted with your class day, time, and location details. First-time families are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early for a brief orientation.

03

First Lesson

Your child's first lesson begins the AAC progression at their entry level. Instructors build trust before building skills — first lessons are about comfort and connection, not performance.

04

Progress & Advancement

Your instructor tracks your child's progress against defined skill benchmarks and communicates transparently. When your child is ready to advance, you'll be the first to know.

What to Bring to Your First Lesson

Before You Register

Answers to the questions parents ask most often before their child's first lesson.

Completely normal — and expected. RCSA instructors are specifically trained in infant and toddler developmental communication. The first priority is always trust, not technique. Most children who are hesitant in the first one or two lessons adjust quickly with consistency.

Yes. For Hatchling and Guppy private lessons, parents observe from poolside. For Minnow, parents are in the water with their child. For the Accelerated Private program, parents observe from a distance — the instructor-child trust relationship is central to how that intensive program works.

Progression at RCSA is readiness-based — not calendar-based. Most toddlers ages 2–3 reach independent water entry and back float within 8–16 weeks of consistent lessons. Your instructor will track and communicate progress transparently throughout.

Contact us as early as possible if you need to miss a scheduled lesson. Make-up policies are outlined in your enrollment agreement. Consistency is the single most important factor in early aquatic development.

If your child can already swim 20 feet unassisted, they are likely ready for the AAC Stroke School — Otter, Dolphin, and Orca — managed through River City Aquatics. Visit rivercityaquatics.org for stroke school registration.

RCSA is the only learn-to-swim program in Southeast Missouri built on the Aquatic Advantage Curriculum — a research-grounded, readiness-based system developed from 50 years of foundational methodology and validated by Griffith University's landmark 7,000-child study. RCSA also connects directly to River City Aquatics — providing a complete pathway from first splash to national-level competition.

★★★★★

We had a wonderful experience taking our 11 month baby to swim lessons with River City Swim Academy! With summer approaching we knew we'd be in the pools frequently, and wanted to feel confident bringing our baby around that environment. It was wonderful to see the progress of my baby to float in the water each day and the instructors were kind enough to even instruct my husband and I on how to handle our baby in the water, with a hands on opportunity. When my baby was nervous and stressed the instructors showed care and patience.
